Dhurandhar Review - A Hyper violent historic retelling of India battling terrorism

Storyline: The story is about a death row convict who goes undercover to infiltrate Karachi's underworld to stop a terror network that targets India.
My Review:
Bollywood seems to have changed. Gone were the days of fanciful romances, it is time to bring the hyperviolent era inside. Adithya Dhar's Dhurandhar came out and I saw it.
Performances:
Ranveer Singh is on Beast Mode as Jaskiran Singh Rangi a.k.a Hamza Ali Mazari, a death row inmate turned undercover agent. R. Madhavan has brought in a sense of restraint as a strategic chief of RAW, Ajay Sanyal. Arjun Rampal has brought in a sense of villainy into his role as Major Iqbal, the chief of ISI. Akshaye Khanna breathes sadism in his role as Rahman Dacait. Sanjay Dutt, the Khalnayak of Bollywood lives up to the title as a tough cop Chaudhary Aslam. Sara Arjun, the girl who I saw in Deiva Thirumagal has grown into a ravishing and romantic damsel.
Technicalities:
Adithya Dhar has brought together a marriage between Hyperviolence and History of Karachi's underworld which played a part in the terrorist attacks that shook India. The cinematography by Vikash has been made in a raw manner. Editing works well. The stunts were so brutal and so real that you could feel history is getting repeated again. The love scenes are seamlessly brought in. Script and story along with direction worked its charm.
The music for the film seems to fit the grim, violent and brutal atmosphere that the film is set in. Shashwat Sachdev created a soundtrack of remixes and bass beats that literally compile a high octane soundtrack. The title track along with Gehra Hua and even Ishq Kalakar are the songs that run in my head.
Overall, this isBollywood's hyperviolent historic saga.
IMO - I can't wait for the sequel which will promise us a gory but adventurous ride.

Pairing Akshaye Khanna's "sadism" against the "restraint" of R. Madhavan is a nice way to look at it. I too feel that the combo elevates the film above a standard action flick.
