Review:

Endha thappu nadhandhalum, Kandippa naan thirumba varuven. Indiannuku Saave Kidaiyaadhu. This dialogue that Kamal's character Senapathy said in Indian 1 in 1996 directed by S. Shankar made me realize that Indian thatha would come back some day and made me hold high hopes for a sequel. 28 years later the sequel Indian 2 - Zero Tolerance has come out and I thought I should give it a watch. I saw the film and here goes;

Performance wise; Kamal Hassan is back as Indian thatha and this time, he has turned into a super old man who could take on corrupt bigwigs. All other actors performed well. The Veterans who left us made a comeback in the film. Other than that there was nothing new expected

Writing wise: The Script of Indian 2 has become outdated and made us feel that Shankar opted for grandiose visuals than content. This included an illogical scene where Indian Thatha who would have been 106 years is riding on a unicycle. He also made an action interval scene look so comically cringe that I started laughing at it.

Technical wise, the movie was ok. Stunts were a bit cartoon based. The original film had so much emotional depth. The sequel on the other hand damaged the expectations. It's so sad to see that Director Shankar who made amazing films in the past has made a parody of his older works in this film. Music from Anirudh was a bit fine. It was so shocking to see a Rockstar musician of Anirudh's caliber deliver some half baked tunes.

Overall , Indian 2 is a sequel recycled from old and cringe cartoons that made for comical effect. It was turning out from a sequel that we waited to a sequel that we didn't actually need.

Honestly; This sequel was a bad idea from Shankar.

My Take: It is director Shankar that needs a comeback not the Indian Thatha.
